Venture capitalists

Venture capital investment means investing in non-listed companies showing good development potential. A venture capitalist is not a permanent owner, but seeks to exit from the company according to an agreed plan. Venture capital investments are made in Finland by venture capital investment companies and private venture capitalists, i.e. business angels. Venture capital investment is a suitable form of financing for an enterprise with strong ambitions and opportunities for growth.

The company's growth potential is the main consideration for a venture capitalist, whose profit depends on the growth and success of the investee company. The venture capitalist seeks to exit from the investment. The return or capital gain is realised by selling the company or a share of it, for example to an industrial player, or by listing the company.

More information on venture capitalists can be found on the Finnish Venture Capital Association's website: www.fvca.fi.
