Compensation for licensing

The compensation for licensing is agreed on when negotiating the ground rules of licensing. In most cases, expenses have already been incurred for protecting the invention by the time the negotiations begin. That is why it is only fair that the inventor receives compensation for his or her input when the invention is being licensed. Such compensation includes initial payments, royalties and minimum royalties along with other compensation to be agreed on separately.
