Sales price of the invention

Determining the value of the invention is an essential aspect of selling the invention in its entirety. Different tools have been developed for this purpose, but the definitive sales price is only determined during negotiations.

The sales price can be a lump-sum payment or it can consist of an initial payment and a series of smaller payments based on the success of selling the product or service based on the invention, for example. The amounts of the payments are agreed on when closing the deal. The scheme consisting of several payments is, in this respect, similar to the licensing of the invention.
